Let's talk about something I hear all the time: "I'm so awkward in front of the camera."

And honestly? I get it. I feel awkward in front of the camera too sometimes!

Not everyone feels comfortable having a camera pointed at them. Maybe you don't know what to do with your hands, you're worried about how you're standing, or you feel like you need to practice poses before your session.

But here's the thing, you don't need to know how to pose. That's my job. Pinterest will be our best friend! That's why I love when you bring inspo photos.

It's not about being picture perfect. BELIEVE ME. It's really trial and error.

When I photograph someone, I'm not looking for perfection. I'm looking for the little things that make you,  YOU.

The genuine laughs, the way you naturally smile when you're comfortable, the little in-between moments you probably don't even realize are happening.

Those are the moments I love capturing.

Of course, I'll help you with posing and give you direction when you need it. I'm not going to put you in front of my camera and expect you to figure everything out on your own.

But I also don't want your entire session to feel like you're following a checklist of poses.

I want you to be able to look back at your photos and recognize yourself in them.

Your session should feel like an experience, not a performance

One of my biggest goals as a photographer is to create an environment where you can relax and actually enjoy yourself.

We can talk, laugh, walk around, take little breaks, and just let things happen naturally.

If you're booking a couples session, I might have you walk together, talk to each other, or do something that gets you both laughing.

If you're booking a portrait session, we'll find what feels comfortable and flattering for you without making you feel like you're trying to be someone else.

And yes, there might be a few awkward moments at first. That's completely normal!

You don't have to show up feeling confident. We can work our way there together.

The little moments matter the most.

Some of my favorite photos aren't necessarily the ones where everything is perfectly positioned.

Sometimes it's the photo right after a pose, when someone finally relaxes. Or the unexpected laugh that happens between shots.

I love photographs that feel warm, natural, and full of personality. I want you to feel comfortable enough to be like "this is just my friend taking photos of me."

But I also want the kind of photos that make you remember how a moment FELT, not just what it looked like.

That's what I want to create for the people who step in front of my camera.

Just come as YOU are.

Whether you're celebrating something special, updating your portraits, documenting your relationship, or simply wanting photos of yourself because you deserve them, you don't need a special reason to show up.

You don't need modeling experience, or the perfect outfit.

Just bring yourself.

I'll bring the camera, the guidance, and probably a few terrible jokes to get you laughing.

And together, we'll create something that feels like you.

With love always,

Joanna
